1965-present day

Welcome to PSVDrivers.COM

1966 OMO

1966 (July) One Man Operation (now One Person Operation) was authorised for double deck buses.

1968 Transport Act

This set up the National Bus Company and brought about the Passenger Transport Authorities and Executives in the larger urban conurbations. Local buses and express coach services were predominantly under public ownership.

1980 Transport Act

Road Service Licensing for express services was abolished. The long distance market was opened up to all operators.

1985  Transport Act

This introduced the de-regulation of local bus services, except in London. Many of the public sector operations were privatised. The controls which had been in place since 1930 were removed.

The website of the roads and road transport history association is a useful site for anyone interested in the bus and coach industry and/or road transport in general.
